Resumo:

  • O surgimento da escrita;
  • Transição da sociedade primitiva para a civilização;
  • Surgimento da cidade e do estado;
  • Mantinha a cultura dominante através da educação.

Nas civilizações orientais, a educação era tradicional: dividida em classes, opondo cultura e trabalho, organizada em escolas fechadas e separadas para a classe dirigente.

O conhecimento da escrita era restrito, devido ao seu caráter esotérico. As preocupações com educação apareceram nos livros sagrados, que ofereceram regras ideais de conduta e enquadramento das pessoas nos rígidos sistemas religiosos.

Nesse período surgiu o dualismo escolar, que destina um tipo de ensino para o povo e outro para os filhos dos funcionários, ou seja, grande parte da comunidade foi excluída da escola e restringida à educação familiar informal.
